Organisational Remarks:
1. An exam is scheduled at the end of series of lectures.
2. Assessment of the lectures will take place in writing. Only three approaches to pass the lectures are possible. Positive evaluations cannot be corrected (however there are some exceptions permitted J).
3. In urgent cases, it is possibile to contact with me via e-mail. The e-mail should be signed.
4. After an assignment each student has the possibility to look exam during consultations.
5. A student loses chance to pass the course in case of absence on the exam.
6. Please monitor this page just before classes, because in case of any rearrangements of lectures, a brief information on this topic will appear here.
Laboratories
LAB I
Deadline for Report I:
Scope of work:
Report I: Describe the building for which the network will be designed: how many storeys, what height of floors, what area. Define the number of people working in the company = the number of computers to be operated within the network. An Internet connection must be defined (Please present how the building will be connected to the Internet. It is necessary to write what company will be the Internet provider, what will be the bandwidth of the link, whether the company will provide any edge devices, etc.). Present floor plans of individual buildings (Describe the number of rooms on a given floor, preferably with a breakdown of how many people will work in each room. The number of rooms should be adequate to the number of people employed.).
To work on the exercises – reports, use the material provided during the lecture. In addition, real consultation is possible.
Works should be sent in pdf format to the following e-mail address: s.paszkiel@po.edu.pl.
VERY IMPORTANT! Name the file to be sent, please name by key:
Course_Name_Surname_Name_Report_I
The report name and author name should appear in the file.
LAB II
Deadline for Report II:
Scope of work:
Report II: The logical and technical design of the network should be developed (part I), including: define the network topology, define the location of the central point of the network – the distribution point and intermediate distribution points. Select the appropriate type of network cabling, present active network devices, including the server and UPS (but not with a technical detailed description). In terms of network simulation (Showing the idea of connecting a network device), you can use Cisco Packet Tracer or another simulation program.
To work on the exercises – reports, use the material provided during the lecture. In addition, real consultation is possible.
Works should be sent in pdf format to the following e-mail address: s.paszkiel@po.edu.pl.
VERY IMPORTANT! Name the file to be sent, please name by key:
Course_Name_Surname_Name_Report_II
The report name and author name should appear in the file.
LAB III
Scope of work:
Report III: A logical and technical design of the network should be prepared (part II), including: calculating the lengths of individual cables (for horizontal and vertical cabling) and defining the markings for individual subscriber points. A detailed technical description of devices located at distribution points should be provided. In terms of network simulation, you can use Cisco Packet Tracer or another simulation program. Provide the IP addressing for the proposed computer network.
To work on the exercises – reports, use the material provided during the lecture. In addition, real consultation is possible.
Works should be sent in pdf format to the following e-mail address: s.paszkiel@po.edu.pl.
VERY IMPORTANT! Name the file to be sent, please name by key:
Course_Name_Surname_Name_Report_III
The report name and author name should appear in the file.
LAB IV
Deadline for report IV:
Scope of work:
Report IV: Describe the concept of Cloud Computing services in the scope of the computer network being developed. Reference should be made to the use of the protocols concerned within the proposed network. It is necessary to distinguish between what will be implemented within the local server and what will be implemented within the framework of cloud services. This should be carefully described.
To work on the exercises – reports, use the material provided during the lecture. In addition, real consultation is possible.
Works should be sent in pdf format to the following e-mail address: s.paszkiel@po.edu.pl.
VERY IMPORTANT! Name the file to be sent, please name by key:
Course_Name_Surname_Name_Report_IV
The report name and author name should appear in the file.
LAB V
Deadline for report V:
Scope of work:
Report V: A detailed cost estimate of the computer network should be prepared, specifying the names of active network elements, passive network elements, number of pieces, price per piece – net / gross.
To work on the exercises – reports, use the material provided during the lecture. In addition, real consultation is possible.
Works should be sent in pdf format to the following e-mail address: s.paszkiel@po.edu.pl.
VERY IMPORTANT! Name the file to be sent, please name by key:
Course_Name_Surname_Name_Report_V
The report name and author name should appear in the file.
